Why Not Using Alone Matters
Overdose can happen fast. When no one is around to help, even a few minutes can be the difference between life and death. Having someone nearby — a friend, a family member, or a trained responder — means someone can call for help or administer naloxone if needed.
Even just being in the same room or letting someone know you're using can make a difference. If they know what to look for, they can respond quickly in case of an emergency. If both people are using drugs, alternate use so one person can look out for the other.
If no one’s around, connect with someone remotely who can check on you and call for help if needed. These services are confidential and nonjudgmental.
